National Librariansâ Day is observed on 12 August every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padmashri Dr S. R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), who is considered as father of library science in India. Dr. Ranganathan dedicated his entire life to the library profession in India, leaving a rich legacy. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Pune District Education Associationâs Law College, Hadapsar, regularly celebrates National Librarianâs Day.
Reading Inspiration Day is observed on 15th October every year to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of scientist and former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. The Vaachan Prerna Diwas (Reading Inspiration Day) encourages reading habits among students. We also arranged this Vaachan Prerna Diwas event on 15th October. We provided various types of books for reading on this day. On this day, different activities were organized by the college like Book Exhibition, Book Review Competition, Reading Katta, Reading of Biographies, Book Talk activities, etc.
Library organizes Library Orientation Programme for the new entrants in the beginning of the academic year. The aim of this programme is to make the new members more familiar with the library resources, services and rules so that they can avail library services up to a great extent.
