Library Facilities and Services

Services and Facilities

  1. Reference Service: Reference Service is an important service offered by the library. It also maintains a collection of reference books consisting of encyclopaedias, dictionaries, directories, handbooks, CD-ROMs, Audio and Video cassettes etc.
  2. Open Access: It provides open access to all library users. They can browse, read any references in the reference section. It helps users to make full use of the resources available in the library.
  3. Book Lending Service: This service is offered to all library users. The resources borrowed from the library shall be returned on or before the due date during library working hours. Its terms and conditions are mentioned in Library Rules and Regulations.
  4. Periodical Service: The magazines and journals are made available to library users. Students have to read in the library only.
  5. E-Journals and E-book Service: The library provides individual user ID and its password to users for making use of e-resources for INFLIBNET N-LIST and Other databases are made available through IP Based.
  6. Library OPAC: The resources of the library have been computerized with integrated library management software ERP. One computer is installed at the entrance to locate library resources. Users can search the resources by author, title, subject, keywords etc.
  7. Current Awareness Service: Newly arrived books are displayed on the stand installed at the entrance of the library and being displayed for a week. It will be issued only after a week of display.
  8. News-Paper Clipping Service: The PDEA’s Law College Library is subscribing 10 Newspapers in three languages English, Hindi, and Marathi. Every day the newspapers are containing very important news in special edition on various subjects which are very useful to the readers.
  9. User Orientation: Library conducts orientation programmes for new users. It is to enable them to use library resources effectively.
  10. Photocopy Facility: The Photocopy service is provided to the members of the library. It is located at the entrance of the library.
  11. Wi-Fi Facility: The entire library is Wi-Fi enabled; members can use their configured laptops to access different free electronic resources.
  12. Book Purchase: Library purchases books by applying P.D.E.A., i.e. patron-driven acquisition policy where students and staff recommend books for purchase by filling a simple form. The Librarian provides book catalogues to users to assist in book selection.
  13. New Arrival Service: As soon as books are purchased, they are displayed on the New Arrival rack placed at the entrance of the library, so that users entering the library will get a quick glimpse of newly arrived books. This activity informs and provokes them to lend new books from the library.
  14. Circulation: Library provides 2 books for 7 days per user and also renews for another 7 days. Thus each user generally gets 2 books for 15 days. The library also provides books for special needs.
  15. Scholarly Journals: Library subscribes to various legal journals and reports, providing valuable resources to users.
  16. Internet Search Facility: Library has computers connected to the internet, freely available to all registered students of the college. Librarian assists them in searches of various legal databases, court websites for moot court preparation, career opportunities, and academic purposes.
  17. Competitive Exam Guidance: Students are provided with guidance on various competitive exams in legal streams like AIBE exam, JMFC etc. under the competitive exam guidance scheme.
  18. Law Entrance Exam Guidance: Students aspiring to be lawyers are guided with eligibility for the exam, exam pattern, exam schedule, and preparation needed.
  19. Selective Dissemination of Information: Staff and students are provided with specific and selected information, such as legal articles for research, cases and judgments from Supreme Court and various High Courts for moot court preparation and study, and important articles on Cyber Security.
  20. E-Content: The library possesses online software where students can access law-related cases and resources.

Note: Library has online software like The Jaw Juris Software where students can access law-related cases from 1986 to the present date, as well as N-list membership for accessing various resources.

The librarian assists them in simple and advanced searches of various legal databases, court websites for moot court preparation, career opportunities, and various other academic purposes. Users are able to receive pinpointed information.
Competitive Exam Guidance Students are provided with guidance on various competitive exams in legal streams like AIBE exam, JMFC, etc. under the competitive exam guidance scheme. They are provided with detailed syllabus, previous year question papers, exam patterns, exam dates, etc.
Law Entrance Exam Guidance Students aspiring to be lawyers are guided with eligibility for exams, exam patterns, exam schedules, and preparation needed, including current awareness, quantitative aptitude, English, reasoning. Application forms are filled at college.
Selective Dissemination of Information Staff and students are provided with specific and selected information in need, like legal articles for research, cases and judgments from Supreme Court and Various High Courts for moot court preparation and study. Various important articles on Cyber Security are provided to students.
E Content Library possesses online software like The Jaw Juris S/w where students get all the law-related cases from 1986-today's date like SSC, High Court cases. Also, the library has N list membership, providing access to various resources for teaching staff and students.
